IMPACT Lab: Anti-Racism Statement

Injustice and violence against Black individuals, families and communities is not new, nor is it a rare event in the history of our nation. The deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud ArberyRayshard Brooks, and many others who did not make headlines are unacceptable — a continued symptom of the inequity and oppression that as a nation we have built into our communities, institutions, and daily lives.  The IMPACT leadership team unanimously stands to condemn the continued violence and injustice against communities of color and especially Black Americans. 

As individuals and as a group, we at the IMPACT lab commit to reflecting on our own implicit bias, examine ways in which we can use our privileged voices to help elevate and amplify the marginalized voices in our communities, and continue to take concrete and effective steps towards applying an anti-racist lens in our research and practice. We include a brief list of resources below and welcome continued conversation around dismantling structural barriers to justice and the policies and practices that perpetuate anti-Black racism.
