Scholarship Application Requirements
Before applying, please prepare and or gather the following materials:
- Resume
- Personal goals statement
- Reference information: Please provide the name and email address of a Human Development or WSU Professor that is willing to complete a reference survey on your behalf
- Unofficial transcripts (including fall 2025 grades)

Undergraduate Scholarships
Typical Total Amount to Disperse = $18,000
Requirements
- Admitted HD major
- 3.0 & above cumulative GPA
- Freshman-Senior class standing
- Financial need considered
Award
$500-$1,000 (1-2 awards)
Requirements
- Admitted FCS major
- 3.0 & above cumulative GPA
- 110 credits completed at time of application
Award
$1,000-$1,500 (1-3 awards)
Requirements
- Admitted HD major
- High academic achievement
- Junior or Senior class standing
- Emphasis in early childhood
- Leadership & strong character
- Desire & ability to be of service to needy people
Award
$500-$1,000 (1-2 awards)

- Admitted HD major
- Preference to students studying early childhood

$500-$1,500 (4-9 awards)
Requirements
- Admitted HD major
- High cumulative GPA
- Sophomore class standing or higher
- Shows high evidence of leadership
- Student demonstrates ability & desire to help those in need

- Emphasis in early childhood

- Preferably student of color

- Demonstrates leadership in volunteer or work activities in home community

Student Awards
The Department of Human Development wants to recognize its students. We don’t always know all the amazing things you are doing. A separate application for student awards will be posted by January. We will ask for information very similar to the scholarship application. Award nominations will be in alignment with CAHNRS Student Award categories.
