Aging Club
To increase opportunities for students with interests in aging to connect and gain experiences working with older adults, the GATHER Lab has started a new club at WSU! Aging Club, with connection and affiliation with the Gerontological Society of America (GSA), aims to create a space for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students to discuss aging issues, work with and serve older adults in the community, and engage in academic growth and experiences in the field of Gerontology. Aging Club currently meets every other Friday at 3:30pm over Zoom and hosts several volunteering and discussion-based events. For more information in Aging Club, please contact the President, Maddy Kidner, at madison.kidner@wsu.edu or the Vice President, Emma Ames, at emma.ames@wsu.edu or find us on Coug Presence!
Lunch, Learn, and the Lifespan
The GATHER Lab is currently hosting its third annual Lunch, Learn, and the Lifespan series. Lunch, Learn, and the Lifespan offers monthly facilitated academic discussions about various life course topics. Past topics have included mental health, caregiving in indigenous populations, retirement, grief and bereavement, ageism, end-of-life experiences, leisure, incarceration, and immigration. The current series of Lunch, Learn, and the Lifespan has been discussing the topics of lifespan development, social isolation, and LGBTQIA+ aging experiences. Lunch, Learn, and the Lifespan is held over Zoom from 12pm to 1pm on the third Thursday of every month. For questions and interest in Lunch, Learn, and the Lifespan, please contact bolkan@wsu.edu or ashley.murray1@wsu.edu.
