Biographical Sketch
Kathleen Boyce Rodgers holds a doctoral degree in Child and Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. An overarching theme of Dr. Rodgers' research is to explore how factors within the individual, family, and non-family environments interact and are related to adolescent health and sexual risk-taking behaviors. Dr. Rodgers has worked with health and youth organizations in communities around the nation to assist them in assessing youth needs, risks, and factors in family, school, peer and community contexts that promote or hinder positive development. Current research interests include study of the role of religiosity and mentoring to adolescent mothers' psychological and physical well-being; family processes associated with adolescent development in differing family structures; and, the impact of music media on gender role attitudes, adolescent sexual risk orientation and sexual scripting.
