Current Educational Activities

I am currently leading a team who is developing a food safety curriculum for 6th-8th graders and providing training for our 3rd-5th grade food safety curriculum "Get a Jump on Germs-Making Food Safer". The curriculum uses the SERIES format developed by Richard Ponzio, University of California, Davis.

The curriculum is being piloted with volunteers, Extension professionals, and elementary teachers in train-the-trainer workshops. This curriculum is suitable for after school programs, school classrooms, 4-H and other informal youth organizations.

Personal Information

I am a senior faculty member in the Department and have been associate with the 4-H Youth Program for 47 years...as member, county agent and specialist. I live in a small community north Pullman, WA called Palouse with my wife Karen.

Since coming to the Pullman area and the greater "Palouse" in 1979, Karen and I have raised three boys who were in athletics, 4-H, FFA, and all of which have graduated from Washington State University.
