-
Understand and conduct research on individuals and families across the life-span
-
Empower children, youth, and families through research-based prevention/intervention programming
-
Develop capacities for making individual, family, organizational, and public decisions that influence human development
-
Contribute to the development and evaluation of public policy options related to human and family development
-
Foster capacities for lifelong learning.
-
Support, promote, and value diversity of multicultural and international perspectives.
In support of this mission we conduct creative scholarship and research, provide high quality academic programs (graduate and undergraduate), and offer effective and relevant outreach programs. HD accomplishes this mission through departmental components located on the Pullman, Vancouver, and Spokane campuses of WSU, WSU Extension faculty located across the state, and through our Distance Degree Program (DDP) in Human Development.
