HD Undergraduate Advising
Welcome to the Human Development Advisors' page. Here you will learn a little bit about each of the advisors in Human Development, find out when they will be advising for each semester and how to sign up for an advising appointment.
Who Are the HD Advisors?
Once a student becomes a certified major in Human Development, a permanent advisor is assigned. Before that time, students seeking to major in HD are advised by one of two SALC advisors: Debra Nelson or Margaret Young.

Who's My Advisor?
If you are a Human Development major (on the Pullman campus) and have forgotten the name of your advisor, or if you have yet to be assigned one, you have three options:
- Call 335-8439 to have a staff person look it up.
- Email Diane Scott
- Contact Margaret Young for new Advisor assignments
Reminders
A few things to help you prepare for your advising appointment:
- Remember, you must meet with an advisor to have your advising hold released!
- Look over the advising/program sheet for your area and make a tentative schedule for the upcoming semester before you see your advisor. Additional advising sheets are available in 501 Johnson Tower. You might also check the WSU Catalog for suggested course combinations for your major.
- Fill in your copy of the advising sheet with grades for completed courses.
- Write down any questions you have for your advisor so that you don't forget.
- If you haven't already done so, create a file for your advising records and forms that you complete for the university. This file of information will be helpful for future advising appointments and for checking your graduation requirements.
- Take responsibility for your program at WSU. The advisor is here to assist you, but you are also responsible for your academic program.
