Seminar in Child Development

 

Course Description:

In this course, students will receive a state-of-the-art review of research in infancy, early, and middle childhood. Cognitive, social, and emotional development will be covered. Moreover, students will learn to apply this knowledge in the areas of program development, program evaluation, and working with children, their families, their schools, and their communities.

Objectives:

Students will develop a research-based understanding of child development in the following areas:

  • Behavioral Genetics
  • Brain development
  • Emotional development
  • Learning, memory, and cognition
  • Temperament
  • Peer relationships
  • Prosocial behavior / Aggression
