Effective Intervention Programs

 

Goals of 535/540 sequence:

 

  1. Students will be able to design or to select and adapt programs grounded in theory and research for children, youth, and families that meet the needs of specific populations.

    Objectives: Students will understand steps necessary to

    • conduct a needs assessment
    • apply developmental theory to match programming needs
    • identify effective progrtams and program components
    • understand how to balance fidelity to core program elements with adaption of programs to community needs
    • identify and overcome barriers to program implementation
    • learn basic of major Best Practices programs in several domains
  2. Students will be able to design and execute a quality program evaluation

    Objectives: Students will be able to

    • identify and articulate program theory and design
    • identify desired outcomes
    • select appropriate assessment tools and modes of assessment
