Program Description
The Washington State University Child Development Laboratory, (CDL) operated by the Human Development Department within the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences, offers two sections (morning/afternoon) of a preschool program for young children.
Sessions
Two session of the CDL operate during the academic year (August to May). The morning program runs from 9:00 to 11:30 AM and the afternoon program runs from 1:00 - 3:30 PM. Children must be three years of age but not yet five years of age by September 1 to be eligible for enrollment in an academic year. The 14 week session runs from the 2nd week of the WSU semester through Closed Week. Parent-teacher conferences will be held during final exam week.
Staffing
Each program is staffed by a supervising teacher with at least a B.A. in Early Childhood Education, Child Development and Family Studies and with extensive experience in working with groups of young children. The remaining staff is comprised of fourth year undergraduate students completing a practicum in early childhood education. Additional students completing other courses at the university may also be working in your child's classroom in an assisting role. The program is directed by a faculty member from the Department of Human Development who specializes in Child Development/Early Childhood Care and Education.
